A Taste of Muslim Cuisine

Click to Bigger     The Thonburi Muslims are delineated into two groups. The first Persian Muslims descendant from Sultan Suleiman, came to the area as merchants and traders in the Ayutthaya era. The second group descendant from Sheikh Ahmad Kummee, migrated from the Ayutthaya capital after it was lost in 1767. These two groups comprise today's Muslim community of Klongbaangluang (presently known as Klong Bangkok Yai), and have been chosen in this edition of Sarakadee to feature exquisite Muslim cuisine.

But, besides sampling these dishes you can also experience the scrumptious distinction of Muslim cuisine in a mixture of garlic, varying curry powders, red onion, saffron, coriander, dates, ginger, peppers, cinnamon tammala, betel vine, and coconut - whether used for seasoning or as a main ingredient, they give Muslim cuisine that zesty flavor and colorful, mouthwatering presentation that we have all come to know and love.
